The number of active subscribers of country’s leading mobile phone operator Grameenphone declined by 9 lakh in January.

The other three mobile companies of the country, however, gained customers in the period.

At the end of January 2021, the total subscribers of GP were 7.81 crore, which were 7.90 crore a month earlier, showed the latest data of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission.

The total number of mobile subscribers in the country increased by 80,000 at the end of January, taking the subscriber base to 17.02 crore.

State-owned Teletalk gained the highest number of subscribers, 4.92 lakh, taking its total user base to 54.19 lakh.

The number of connections of Robi, the second largest mobile operator, rose by 2.21 lakh in January to reach 5.11 crore at the end of the month.

The number of Banglalink’s connections rose by 2.83 lakh to reach 3.56 crore at the end of January.

The mobile internet connections in the country increased by 6.79 lakh to 10.3 crore at the end of January 2021 from 10.23 crore a month ago.
