Sakhawat for increasing revenue from river ports

Shipping Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hossain on Sunday asked for taking initiative to increase revenue from river ports.
He said this during a visit at Dhaka Sadarghat lunch terminal, Kheyaghat, Wiseghat-Simson ghat, reports BSS.
The adviser directed to take initiative to speed up revenue collection activities in coordination with law enforcement agencies and the Bangladesh Army.
He also asked the officials to keep on display the rate chart of fare fixed by the government at a visible place in every ghat and point.
Chairman of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) Commodore Arif Ahmed Mostafa was present.
Sakhawat Hossain expressed satisfaction over the overall activities of the river port.
He urged every officer-employee of the port to discharge their assigned duties with integrity and efficiency.
He also asked the BIWTA to take strict steps for strict execution of laws and ensure safety and security of launch routes to bring discipline in this sector.
Earlier, Port Officer Kabir Hossain gave a short brief to the adviser about various functions of the river port.
