12 tonnes of Hilsa exported to India through Benapole port

The first consignment of 12 tonnes of Padma Hilsa was sent to India on Thursday through Benapole Land Port ahead of the Durga Puja.
“Two trucks carrying 12 tonnes of Padma Hilsa entered Petrapole Land Port in India after completing customs and port formalities at Benapole today,” said Benapole cargo branch revenue officer Masudur Rahman, reports BSS.
On the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja, the Ministry of Commerce of Bangladesh has given permission to export 3,000 tonnes of Hilsa fish to India.
The export price of per kg Hilsa fish has been fixed at 10 US dollars, which is equivalent to Taka 1,180 (Bangladesh currency).
Responding to the ‘Special Request’ from India, Bangladesh commerce ministry approved export of Hilsa to India through 49 agencies ahead of Durga Puja festival.
