The US Embassy in Dhaka will begin accepting student visa applications from this Sunday.
But due to the coronavirus pandemic, the embassy is limited to the number of appointments it can schedule each day and processing applications may take as long as six weeks, reads a press release.
The American embassy will also start accepting appointments for new applicants under the categories F for students (academic and language); J for exchange visitors; and M for vocational visas.
Applicants have been asked to submit their applications well ahead of their proposed travel dates. To do that, they have to log in and update their profiles online at www.ustraveldocs.com/bd, and schedule their appointment online after paying associated visa fees
The embassy will offer emergency visa services for applicants with life or death emergencies, the press release adds.
Until Embassy Dhaka’s regular visa services resume, the application fee (MRV) will remain valid and may be used to schedule an interview appointment there until December 31, 2021.
The embassy also said it is accepting interview-waiver applications for continuing students who want to renew their student visas for the same field of study at the same institution. Applications for continuing F2 spouses and their children under the age of 21 are also being accepted, according to the press release.
